The Health Industry provides medical and health services to the community. The COVID-19 pandemic showed the importance of our health care industry and those that work within it. There is increased demand in the health sector for health and medical professionals with the relevant skills to provide a high level of care to patients. If you are highly skilled in the Health Industry and you are looking to move to Australia, VisaEnvoy can assist you in this process.
Skilled Migration
Former Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL)
The Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List was a temporary list of occupations given priority processing during COVID-19, and it no longer applies. Since 19 September 2026, skilled visa processing priorities are set by Ministerial Directions 121 (482 visas) and 122 (permanent and regional skilled visas such as the 186, 189, 190, 491 and 494). Occupations in priority sectors, including construction, healthcare, teaching, resources, agriculture, law enforcement and defence, are processed first, and applicants already in Australia are generally processed ahead of those applying from outside Australia. See our order of consideration page for details. The following health occupations were on the former PMSOL:
- Orthotist / Prosthetist (251912)
- General Practitioner (253111)
- Resident Medical Officer (253112)
- Psychiatrist (253411)
- Medical Practitioner nec (253999)
- Midwife (254111)
- Registered Nurse (Aged Care) (254412)
- Registered Nurse (Critical Care and Emergency) (254415)
- Registered Nurse (Medical) (254418)
- Registered Nurse (Mental Health) (254422)
- Registered Nurse (Perioperative) (254423)
- Registered Nurses nec (254499)
While the PMSOL applied, employer sponsored nominations and visa applications in these occupations were given priority processing. Healthcare is now one of the priority sectors under Ministerial Directions 121 and 122.
