Student visa fees

The Student (Sc 500) and Student guardian (Sc 590) visa application charges increased by more than CPI. From 1 July 2026, the first instalment of the VAC for certain Student and Student Guardian visa applications increased from $2,000 to $2,500.

Pacific Island and Timor-Leste applicants will retain access to concessional VACs and will not be subject to the student and student guardian VAC uplift.

Student Visa (Subclass 500): Visa Application Charge (VAC)

Main applicant	$2,500
Additional applicant Charge 18 and over	$1,530 (each)
Additional applicant Charge under 18	$500 (each)

Students in the ELICOS (English language) and non-award sectors pay a lower charge: $2,050 for the main applicant, $1,255 for each additional applicant 18 and over and $410 for each child. Postgraduate research students pay $2,500. From 2 October 2026, family members can no longer be added to a Student visa as subsequent entrants. The subsequent entrant charges below only apply to applications lodged before that date.
