Recently we have written about the Bespoke invitation rounds running since May 2020, and you may already see that the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has been only issuing invitations for occupations in healthcare, engineering, ICT, and science.
In this post, we have retrieved some data released by DHA for the number of visas granted for subclass 189 and 491 (Family Sponsored) between 03/2020 and 01/2021. From these data, we understand that DHA is also prioritizing granting visas for the above occupations so that they can come to Australia and support the country in the pandemic.
Looking at the table, we could see that the number of visas granted significantly decreased by 90% since the pandemic started in March 2020. Healthcare section appears to be the group that received the greatest number of grants during this period, especially General Practitioner, Medical Practitioner (nec), and Registered Nurse (nec).
For engineering group, Mechanical engineers received more visa grants than other occupations in the same group. Accountants, unfortunately, did not receive any visas granted since 06/2020.
