| In order to sponsor employees for Skills in Demand (482) visas, most businesses need to be approved as a Standard Business Sponsor. | |
| STANDARD BUSINESS SPONSORSHIP REQUIREMENTS | To obtain this approval, there are a number of important hurdles which must be met:
|
| SPONSORSHIP PERIOD OF VALIDITY | Once obtained Sponsorship approval is generally valid for 5 years. However, there are a number of exceptions to this:
|
| APPLICATION FEE | The Standard Business Sponsorship application fee is $420. |
| YOUR OBLIGATIONS AS A SPONSOR | Once approved, you must meet ongoing sponsorship obligations, including paying sponsored workers no less than Australian workers in the same role, keeping records and notifying the Department of Home Affairs of certain changes.
Skills in Demand visa holders can now change employers more easily. If their employment ends, they generally have up to 180 days at a time (365 days in total over the visa) to find a new sponsor, apply for another visa or leave Australia. |
