Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) – Application Fee Increase from 1 March 2026
From 1 March 2026, the Australian Government has increased the Visa Application Charge (VAC) for the Temporary Graduate visa (Subclass 485).
The increase applies to new applications lodged on or after 1 March 2026 only. Applications lodged before this date are not affected.
What Has Changed?
The application fee for most Subclass 485 applicants has doubled (100% increase).
However, passport holders from certain Pacific countries are exempt from the increase and continue to pay the previous application fees.
Who Is Exempt from the Fee Increase?
The fee increase does not apply to primary Subclass 485 applicants who hold a valid passport from:
- Federated States of Micronesia
- Fiji
- Kiribati
- Nauru
- Palau
- Papua New Guinea
- Republic of the Marshall Islands
- Samoa
- Solomon Islands
- Timor-Leste
- Tonga
- Tuvalu
- Vanuatu
Applicants from these countries continue to pay the previous (lower) application charges.
New Subclass 485 Visa Application Charges (From 1 March 2026)
The new fees are divided into four categories:
1️⃣ Subsequent 485 Visa – Eligible Passport Holders
(No increase applies)

Primary applicant: $905

Additional applicant (18+): $455

Additional applicant (under 18): $230
2️⃣ Subsequent 485 Visa – Non-Eligible Passport Holders
(Fee doubled)

Primary applicant: $1,810 (previously $905)

Additional applicant (18+): $910 (previously $455)

Additional applicant (under 18): $460 (previously $230)
3️⃣ All Other 485 Applicants – Eligible Passport Holders
(No increase applies)

Primary applicant: $2,300
-
Additional applicant (18+): $1,150
-
Additional applicant (under 18): $580
This applies to most graduates applying under the:
4️⃣ All Other 485 Applicants – Non-Eligible Passport Holders
(Fee doubled)

Primary applicant: $4,600 (previously $2,300)

Additional applicant (18+): $2,300 (previously $1,150)

Additional applicant (under 18): $1,160 (previously $580)
