The Department of Home Affairs allows the Victoria (VIC) Government to nominate applicants for the following visa types:
- Skilled Work Regional Visa (Provisional) – Subclass 491
- Skilled Nominated Visa (Permanent) – Subclass 190
If you are interested in being considered by the VIC Government, you need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) visa SkillSelect. SkillSelect is the program administered by the Department of Home Affairs.

In addition to applicants living in Victoria, Victoria will also be selecting applicants living outside Australia for the subclass 190 visa in all eligible occupations.
For the subclass 491 visa in addition to applicants living in Victoria, applicants living offshore can apply, noting Victoria are currently prioritising health occupations for subclass 491 visa nomination.

General Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to apply to be considered for selection for a Victorian skilled visa nomination, you must meet the following criteria:
- Living in Victoria (subclass 491 applicants must live and work in regional Victoria)
- Working in Victoria using STEMM skills
- Working in a target sector

Victoria Occupation List
The Victoria Occupation List is a list of 108 occupations that is used by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment as STEMM occupations. Please note having an occupation on the below list does not mean you will be invited by the Victorian government to apply for a 491/190 visa. Please read in conjunction with Victoria Skilled Migration Nomination Requirements 2021 – 2022 (190 and 491 visa).
English Language Requirements
The Victorian Skilled Migration Program requires that all applicants have an English level equivalent to IELTS 6.0. For further information about the English language tests and requirements, see our page on English Language Requirements for Victoria State Nomination.
Workforce Skills Pathways
Skill gaps in Victoria are addressed through local training and recruitment. In certain instances, industries may require migration to quickly supplement the number of skilled professionals available. Therefore, the Victorian Government has introduced the Workforce Skills Pathways for those people working in certain occupations to apply for Victorian nomination.
