The Department of Home Affairs allows the New South Wales (NSW) Government to nominate applicants for the following visa types:

SUBCLASS 190

NSW Nomination Pathways for Subclass 190

  1. Onshore Candidates

You can apply for this pathway if you are:

  • Currently residing in NSW and either:
    • Have genuinely and continuously resided in NSW for the past 3 months; or
    • Be gainfully employed in a long-term capacity in NSW in your nominated occupation for a minimum 20 hours per week
  1. Offshore Candidates

If you are currently residing offshore, you must:

  • Have continuously resided offshore for the past 3 months; and
  • Have a valid skills assessment for an occupation within the ANZSCO group that accepts offshore candidates – these unit groups are identified with a tick under the ‘Offshore column’ of the NSW skilled occupation list

NSW Skilled Occupation Lists for 190 Visa

The Skilled Occupation List lists the eligible occupations for the subclass 190 visa in the NSW Nomination Program. To be considered during an invitation round you must have a skills assessment in an occupation that is both eligible for the Skilled Nominated visa (Permanent) visa (subclass 190) and within an ANZSCO unit group identified below. Subclass 491

NSW Nomination Pathways for Subclass 491

  1. Living and working in Regional NSW

You can apply for this pathway if you:

  • Hold a valid skilled assessment for an occupation on the Stream 1 combined occupation list
  • Have been living and working in your nominated occupation in a designed regional area of NSW for the past 12 months for a minimum 20 hours per week
  1. Recently completed study in Regional NSW

To be eligible for this stream, you must:

  • Hold a valid skills assessment for an occupation that appears on your preferred region’s occupation list
  • Have completed study in the past 24 months where:
    • You are eligible to claim points for ‘study in regional Australia’; and
    • Your qualification is assessed as closely related to your nominated occupation by the relevant assessing authority
  1. Recently completed study in Regional NSW

To be eligible for this stream, you must:

  • Hold a valid skills assessment for an occupation that appears on your preferred region’s occupation list

NSW Skilled Occupation Lists for 491 Visa

The Skilled Occupation List lists the eligible occupations for the subclass 491 visa in the NSW Nomination Program. The occupations NSW is currently nominating for the subclass 190 and subclass 491 visas can be found at our page on NSW Skilled Occupation Lists for 491 Visa. These lists are subject to change without notice. There are two additional lists applicable to the subclass 491 visa:
